You have been thinking about moving for a long time and finally decided this is the year. Through the decision process, you have also determined that townhome living will be ideal. How nice to not have to worry about upkeep and overall exterior maintenance! But as you narrow down cities and bedrooms, don’t forget to consider how the move may affect your puppy!
Did you know that some townhomes do not allow pets at all? Some only allow cats, no dogs. Others allow dogs but limit the number you can have. Still others allow your dogs but have restrictions such as weight and height.
The market is moving so fast. If you are in, or about to enter, the townhome market you are well aware of how quickly you need to act! It is rare that you will have time to do too much research about dog restrictions. We strongly recommend you do any of that research in advance! Know which developments within your search criteria have restrictions you can or cannot live with.
Also take note of which developments are more pet friendly than others. Some have parks and walking paths made just for walking your dog(s).
Consider the access in and out of the townhome units as well. Dog owners prefer some townhome styles over another to make it easier for their pet. Take notice of the access in and out of the home, as well as number of stairs for an older dog.
