Hosting this Thanksgiving? Tips for the Host and Thanksgiving Guests!

Are you the one to host Thanksgiving this year? Chances are, you have planned out the (amazing) meal. Now let’s get your home ready for Thanksgiving guests!

  1. Lighten up: Check indoor and outdoor lights, replace dim bulbs, lighten up hallways and stairways. Remember, your Thanksgiving guests don’t know your home as well as you do!
  2. Safety: Roll up rugs that slide or are a trip hazard. And for the younger guests, protect the fronts of fireplaces to keep them away from the hot surface!
  3. Assess the Kitchen: If you are bold enough to share your kitchen, take some of the pressure off!  Make sure to have extra mixing spoons handy, added bowls, a step ladder, all at the ready. Stock oven mitts and extra dish towels too! Put aside things you won’t need that day!
  4. Create a Welcome Station: Have a coat space with hooks/hangers, a bench or chair, and an extra mat for shoes.
  5. Bathrooms: Add a nightlight to easily identify this room. Stock with extra hand towels and toilet paper.

And most importantly, put aside a slice of your favorite pie. When the guests have gone and you are finally sitting down to savor it, you will thank me!  Have Fun!

And Happy Thanksgiving from Kristin and John!
