It seems silly at first, I must admit.
It started the day my microwave quit.
No notice, just an act of clear defiance
From a necessary, simple, daily appliance.
I decided to replace it, sounds easy, right?
Let’s see.. stainless steel, black, or white?
No no, I won’t buy just this one.
I’ll buy a new appliance package, what fun!
But there was a reason I was waiting,
The kitchen first needs a major updating.
At the same time, let’s replace the floor,
Build a center island, get rid of the door.
That will extend into the dining room
With the table I should replace real soon.
First I will redo the trim thru the home
Change the fireplace surround to a lovely stone.
Why stop here, I will redo the ceiling.
And redo paint that may be peeling.
How exciting to think of what’s in store
As I completely rethink my home’s décor!
Wait. What of my dream of buying an acre?
Or a kitchen that fits a professional baker?
I would love a main floor owners suite
And a 4+ garage would be pretty sweet!
I am sure I will have this all some day!
I can’t give this up for some microwave!
So, off I go to buy the best one in sight,
And dream with a side of microwave popcorn tonight.
