We help our clients find a home that is, quite literally, the right fit! Sound funny? Think about it. There are so many features in a home that can be more or less suited for each of us. John and I pay attention to these details on behalf of our clients. There are times when our clients cannot see a home as soon as it comes on the market. They may have little flexibility at work, or may be moving here from another city or state. Often we will preview a home on behalf of our client(s) to see if the home offers in person what it seemingly offered online and in photos.
In one scenario, we had a client who was interested in a particular home. From the photos, however, John could see that something was a little off, and he was right! We previewed the home and noticed important limitation: Although this home boasted an upper level, it had extremely low ceilings. To show our buyer exactly how low, we shot this photo of John at the doorway in the upper level. FYI, John is 6 ft 3 in. Our client’s height is about 6ft 8 inches!
In another instance, our buyers were moving their whole family to the area. One of the homes they liked had an unfinished lower level they wanted to use as an added living space. That is, until John and I previewed it. The photos hinted at a lower ceiling, but since everything else about the home was perfect, we previewed in advance to know for sure. Woah! There was no way this taller couple, and their tall teenagers, would clear the height in this space (without hitting foreheads nonstop!).
As someone at 5ft (and almost 1 inch…), I can say it goes the other way, too. For any of our buyers, the position of the bathroom mirrors, the height of the vanity, kitchen counters, even toilets, all lend themselves to a home that may make a person not comfortable in their own home!
What good is a home that ‘checks all the boxes’ when you can’t reach the top boxes!
