Home: Serving as #1 Backdrop for the First Day of School since 1925
Okay, so I am not exactly sure about the year. But I did not make up the fact that many of us enjoy our home as the ultimate backdrop for documenting this important occasion: The first day of school. Is there any better feeling than that first day? The promise of a fresh new year and the adventure that awaits! But why the photo? Your teenagers likely would explain it is a way for parents to further embarrass or torment their kids. Maybe so. Whatever the reason, these photos certainly tell a great story, don’t they? The progression of height, style, braces or no braces, cute puppies, proud little brothers and sisters. To get the true essence, I went back to my own ‘first day of school’ poses. I admit there was not one for each consecutive year (ahem)! Though I am sure my siblings can attest to the fact that I was likely there at the front stoop waiting for the photo shoot to begin! I LOVED the first day of school! Of course, as I went through the entire photo album, I enjoyed other photos that celebrated the occasions through the years: in costume for Halloween, dressed up for proms, in uniform for basketball games, weddings, on my way to college, and so much more. Wow, it all brought back some fun memories! As I looked through, a common theme struck me – of all the many changes over the years, was one thing that remained constant – the backdrop of our home. Standing strong, stable, inviting, welcoming, as though its arms are around us, guiding us as we go through so many ‘firsts’ in our worlds. Okay, now I am getting teary-eyed ???? Hopefully everyone made it through the first few weeks of school Here’s wishing you an amazing year ahead filled with the magic of kids, big and small, running in the front door with a big “I’m Hoooommee!”
