January is an interesting month. The holiday season is over. The hot sales at the malls are almost done. Your house is more or less back in order (no judging if there is a lingering decoration or two!). There is a quiet calm. It is a time when we are asked “Is now a good time to buy or sell?” But what if you are not quite at that stage yet? You know you want to make a move but you are not sure where to start. Here is what you do know: You have a wish list of what you would buy for your next home. (Seriously, how did you manage all those holiday guests in your current space?!) You have been saving money left and right for a downpayment. Your new job promotion will be announced in a month. But there are some unknowns: What does it take to be financially ready – do you need a few months or more to get your finances in order? Would a remodel to current home be a better fit? Will your new job be easier if you were closer to work? Or closer to family? January can be a great month to explore your options, even take the time to talk to a lender, talk to us, your realtors. Learn what you need to do to make these dreams a reality. It may be a 1, 3 or 5 year plan. But take the time now and you will be better prepared when the timing is right!
